Certification Guideline 24
SUBJECT
Degree - Baccalaureate Equivalence for an Additional Occupational Area
GUIDELINE DEFINITION
Once a baccalaureate degree equivalency is obtained in the Wisconsin Technical
College System (WTCS), a request for certification in additional occupational
areas would require only two years of appropriate occupational experience.
The individual would also need appropriate education or training for each
additional occupational area.
EXAMPLE
John has a two-year diploma for 64 credits in Culinary Management and five years of employment
as a chef. He also had prior employment for two years as a welder and he completed
12 weeks of training as a welder. He could be certified as a 316 (Culinary
Arts) instructor. Since John has met the baccalaureate degree equivalency
requirement and has the required work experience as a welder, he can also
be certified as a welding instructor.
