Certification Guideline 38
SUBJECT
Course(s) Not Found
GUIDELINE DEFINITION
Certification requests for courses that do not appear
in the course approval
file will result in the error message
64 COURSE NOT FOUND on the district's
Certification Edit
Results report (VE501200). This is a hard error, and the
record is rejected
by the system. Requests for courses
that have been disapproved (
61 COURSE
DISAPPROVED) or
archived (
62 COURSE ARCHIVED) are also hard errors
and
will be rejected. Courses in pending or waiting status will trigger
a warning, and those records are accepted by the system.
EXAMPLE

RATIONALE
The certification system was designed to obtain course titles from the course
approval file. Instructors cannot be certified for courses that do not appear
in that file. Districts will have to resubmit any requests that generate hard
errors. Local certification officers may check with the district course approval
contact or the state course consultant to determine the status of the course(s)
in question.
Courses in pending or waiting status have passed the required edits. It is
assumed that these courses will be approved, and they are retained in the
course file. These certification requests are also retained in the certification
file, and certificates will be issued when the courses are approved.
