(ESL) (861) Certification
GUIDELINE DEFINITION
Teaching of Foreign Language credits are required for some options of the
861 English as a Second Language Certification. This guideline provides examples
of course titles appropriate for this requirement. The list is not intended
to be all-inclusive; it should serve as a guide to courses in the fields of
ESL, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), VESL (Vocational English
as a Second Language), TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language), Linguistics,
or Bilingual Education.
