In order to become certified at the provisional level to teach any course numbered within instructional area (801) English/Communicative Skills, the individual must:

* 801-198 Speech may also be taught by 810 Certified Speech Instructor.

Individuals satisfying the requirement necessary for a five-year certificate must:

Courses from other departments will be considered only if accompanied by a written statement from the recognized English, Reading, Journalism, Speech or Communications department chair of an accredited university that the course or a portion of the course is equivalent to a course counting towards a minor or major in the respective department.
