APPROPRIATE CREDITS FOR CERTIFICATION

INSTRUCTIONAL AREA (805) MUSIC

In order to become certified at the provisional level to teach any course numbered within instructional area (805) Music, the individual must:

• Have at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and

• Have at least a minor or twenty semester credits drawn from the Music department.

Individuals satisfying the requirement necessary for a five-year certificate must:

• Have at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and

• Have at least a major or thirty semester credits drawn from the Music department.

Courses from other departments will be considered only if accompanied by a written statement from the Music department chair of an accredited university that the course or a portion of the course is equivalent to a course counting towards a minor or major in Music.
