APPROPRIATE CREDITS FOR CERTIFICATION
INSTRUCTIONAL AREA (806) NATURAL SCIENCE
In order to become certified at the provisional level to teach
any course numbered within instructional area (806) Natural Science, the
individual must:
- Have at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited
institution, and
- Have at least a minor or twenty semester credits drawn from
the recognized science disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and
Physiology, Microbiology, Earth Science, or Physics, with a minimum of twelve
credits in the discipline being taught.
Individuals satisfying the requirement necessary for a five-year
certificate must:
- Have at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited
institution, and
- Have at least a major or thirty semester credits drawn from
the recognized science disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology,
Microbiology, Earth Science, or Physics, with a minimum of twelve
credits in the discipline being taught. These thirty credits may
include a concentration of twelve credits in more than one area.
Courses from other departments will be considered only if
accompanied by a written statement from the recognized science discipline
department chair of an accredited university that the course or a portion of the
course is equivalent to a course counting towards a minor or major in the
respective science discipline.

might be recognized as supporting certification, if they come from the
appropriate department:
