EXAMPLE
Richard, a part-time instructor, currently holds Part-Time Approval with an expiration date of August
31, 2001. His assignment changes as of September 1, 2000, and results in Part-Time
Provisional certification. The expiration date will be changed to August 31,
2002. He will be given two years since he now must complete two credits of required
education courses or district in-service activities.
EXAMPLE
William currently holds Part-Time Provisional certification with an expiration date of August
31, 2001. His assignment changes as of January 1, 2000, and results in Provisional
certification. The expiration date will be changed to August 31, 2002. He will
be given a minimum of two years since he must complete six credits of required
education courses or district in-service activities.
EXAMPLE
Mary currently holds a Part-Time Provisional certificate with an expiration
date of August 31, 2002. Mary taught two different courses between September
1, 2000 and May 31, 2001. Her assignment in the future is not expected to change.
A request to change Mary's certification from Part-Time Provisional to Part-Time
Approval must be submitted prior to September 1, 2001, in order to reduce her
renewal activity to a Part-Time Approval requirement. Her Part-Time Approval
certificate will have an expiration date of August 31, 2002. If a request is
made after September 1, 2001, Part-Time Provisional renewal requirements will
remain in effect.
RATIONALE
Acceptance of an additional teaching assignment should not cause additional hardship for
the instructor. The expiration date is extended to allow the instructor adequate
time to complete the additional renewal requirements.
Implemented: August 30, 1993
