Ironworkers

(Individual must also have two months of occupational experience)

Current/On-Going

National Ironworkers - University of San Diego

* PDC 1 - Principles of Instruction

* PDC 2 - Instructional Planning

* PDC 3 - Testing and Evaluation Strategies

* PDC 4 - Communication Skills and Motivation Techniques

* PDC 5 - Developing Instruction Media

* PDC 6 - Presenting and Illustrated Lecture

* PDC 7 - Working with Learners with Special Needs

* PDC 9 - Facilitation Skills for Ironworker Instructors

* SDC 14 - How to Teach Blueprint Reading

* SDC 15 - Teaching Vocational English As A Second Language

Hours: Each of the above modules provides ten hours of instruction, except PDC 7 and SDC 15, which are twenty hours of instruction.

Strengths: Part of a national effort to improve individuals as instructors in the trade.

Considerations: Each of the modules listed above could be used to renew an individual holding Part-Time Approval certification. The module would have to be completed during the certification renewal period. If an individual holding Part-Time Approval certification completed two of these modules, starting after May 1 of the last year of the renewal period, one would be counted for one renewal period and the second could be used for the next renewal period.

This national program does include other modules that help to prepare the individual as a better worker in the industry. These modules cannot be recognized for renewal.
