Programs/CoursesThis 36-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform aerial fire apparatus driving, positioning, operating and testing functions at a minimum nationally recognized level.
The targeted audience is individuals who have completed the training required to meet the Fire Fighter I JPRs of NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Chapter 3, and desire or are required to increase their knowledge and skills base to progress to the fire apparatus driver/operator-aerial level.
This course is designed to provide the Driver/Operator-Aerial candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4. It is based on the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Aerial Apparatus Driver/Operator Handbook, 1st Edition curriculum.
