Fire Protection Engineering Technology
The Fire Protection Engineering Technology Program at Northeast Wisconsin Area Technical College (NWTC) teaches students to design, install, and service fire suppression systems. Graduates of the program will be able to:

  • Analyze developments in the fire protection field
  • Produce fire protection drawings
  • Use written, technical and oral presentations
  • Design fire protection systems
  • Use construction blueprints
  • Evaluate automatic sprinkler systems
  • Evaluate fire protection hazards
  • Troubleshoot electrical components of fire protection systems
  • Compare manual/automatic fire extinguishing systems and agents
  • Arrange fire detection, alarm and control devices
  • Design automatic fire sprinkler systems
  • Test to NICET Level II in at least one subfield
  • Design special hazards systems
  • Observe how fire protection is viewed by the general public
  • Assemble systems costs information
  • Install, service and inspect fire protection systems
  • Graduates of the program have the potential for employment as fire protection systems designers, fire protection equipment sales representatives, fire protection systems installers, and industrial safety technicians.
